OFFICE ACHES AND PAINS
There are many different aches and pains that can be directly linked to the incorrect adjustment of a chair or workstation, or the inability of those components to accommodate the specific physical and functional requirements of the occupant. Discomfort is not a normal result of office work.

- Minor errors in the adjustment of a chair or
keyboard will cause discomfort over time.
- Many aches and pains caused at work will
be felt after work.
- Most people have no idea that they could have caused their own discomfort.
- A response to one discomfort can easily
cause a new one that did not exist before.
- People are different. There are no standard
solutions for working comfort.
- All body shapes and sizes can and should
be accommodated to eliminate discomfort.
- Many solutions provide relief that is only
temporary, by changing postures but not
meeting specific physical needs.
- Tasks require specific solutions for their functional accomodation..
- Failing to meet functional needs can cause
serious individual discomfort over time.
- Patterned reaching and/or turning can
cause pain and discomfort over time.
- Feeling the need for frequent breaks
is a sign of working discomfort.
- The physical needs of experienced typists
are different from those who are not.
